What to Do in Phuket, Thailand

Enjoy a drink and really good food at the top of Patong Hill at the Patong Sunset View Restaurant to take in the stunning views of the bay. Nothing beats a beautiful sunset and breathtaking natural scenery to end your day on a high note.

Wassa Patong

Visit Promthep Cape and enjoy the best sunset that Phuket Island has to offer.
Cape Yamu is also an ideal spot to enjoy a stunning natural landscape with panoramic sea views.

If you love preserved beaches, I recommend Nai Yang and Layan, both surrounded by a national park.

Our Favorite Beaches in Phuket

Laem Singh Beach: A small beach in a cove surrounded by tropical forest, quite wild but can get crowded in high season. Although it’s a must-visit, it’s best to go early in the morning to enjoy a deserted beach.

Kata Noi Beach: White sand and clear water surrounded by lush green hills of Kata. Magnificent!

Ya Nui Beach: A small beach with some of the best snorkeling.

Paradise Beach: The best beach near Patong (once a secret spot). You can ask a tuk-tuk to take you there if you’re not comfortable driving. Currently, the entrance fee is 500 THB, so it’s best to go in the morning to enjoy a full day (with sunbeds, umbrellas, and activities).

Nai Harn Beach: A local favorite, with many seafood restaurants.

Ao Sane: Next to Nai Harn, a small gem with great snorkeling and a diving site.

Ao Yon Beach: Located in the south of Phuket, at Cape Panwa. Be careful when looking for it, but it’s definitely worth the effort. If you’re looking for a quiet place with a traditional atmosphere, you’ll likely love Ao Yon. On some weekends, impressive dragon boat teams perform lively shows—something you don’t see every day.

In Northern Phuket: Nai Yang Beach, Layan Beach, and Naithon… All very pleasant and peaceful!

Restaurants in Phuket

Here is a selection of restaurants we’ve taken the time to try.

Western Cuisine

If you’re tired of Thai food (even though it’s delicious), here are some Western restaurants that rival our own cuisine.

For the best pizzas in Phuket, I wholeheartedly recommend: Da Moreno, which has 5 locations on the island. Delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, with incredible homemade cheese and dough! The Phuket Town restaurant is located in the Old Town—it’s beautiful. Here’s the address: Pizzeria Da Moreno @ Town.

If you want high-end dining, visit Acqua. It’s an excellent Italian fine-dining restaurant, arguably the best!

In Kata, you can enjoy an excellent dinner at Boathouse, a beachfront restaurant.

The Foto Hotel is the perfect place for a romantic/spectacular view. Their restaurant, Tiffin Mama, offers an unforgettable experience.

You can also visit La Gritta in Patong for Italian cuisine in a very romantic setting with sea views.

If you’re heading to Ao Yon Beach or the Cape Panwa Aquarium, you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at The Cove. Be sure to try their famous mojitos… they’re excellent.

Thai Cuisine

Chalong:
In my opinion, Kan Eang Pier is one of the best seafood restaurants in Phuket at reasonable prices. Located at Chalong Pier (south of Phuket), you can enjoy the best blue crab seasoned with garlic and pepper on a terrace with sea views, all accompanied by a jazz band. I highly recommend trying their chocolate fondant—you won’t be disappointed.

Kamala:
The Bua Kamala: A seaside restaurant with excellent Thai and Western cuisine. It’s best to visit during the day to enjoy the view. The quality-to-price ratio is great (around 300 THB per dish).

If you’re looking for great Thai and French cuisine, I invite you to try Ohlala. The prices are reasonable, and the food is high-quality and delicious. They offer melted cheese dishes that I highly recommend. They also make wood-fired pizzas and bread.

Patong:
L’Arôme is a fine-dining restaurant offering a beautiful view of Patong Bay and delicious cuisine, featured in the Michelin Guide.

Kaab Gluay: A local favorite on Prabaramee Road (near the gas station and Patong Mosque).

Excursions

If you want to visit the many islands around Phuket, there’s no better way than by boat or private yacht.

Here’s our page where you can choose your boat and book online: Yacht Charter.

I highly recommend a canoe trip to Phang Nga Bay, where you can see the famous James Bond Island—one of the best things to do here.

The best activity is John Gray Sea Canoe.

Koh Phi Phi is a must-visit for a day trip or an overnight stay. You can check out what Easy Day Thailand offers for Koh Phi Phi Island tours. For more information, visit their website: Phi Phi Island Tours.

If you want to go to the Similan Islands or Koh Phi Phi, Seastar is a good travel agency. I’ve tried it myself and was generally satisfied.

If you’re looking for something more private and unique, I recommend the boat rental services of Offspray Leisure. They’re not the cheapest, but they’re highly professional and offer a different kind of service.

Golf

You might not think of it, but Phuket has many high-quality golf courses. To organize your day, you can contact: Asia Golf Experiences.
