Phuket Town

Phuket Town

In half a day you can explore the historic part of Phuket which, although small in size, is quite rich and fascinating. There are many Sino-Portuguese style shophouses, small colourful shops, outstanding local Thai restaurants and many newly established young cafes on both sides of the streets. You can also visit colourful Thai temples and Chinese shrines, some museums and beautiful old houses. Recently, you can also enjoy the many murals and street art works adorning the walls of old buildings. It’s even nicer since the Phuket municipality has buried all the electric cables.

To do in Phuket Town

  • The historic centre of old Phuket and its iconic streets

If we have to remember the streets to see : Yaowarat Road (The historic Limpanon House), Phang Nga Road (Seren Light), Krabi Road (Baan Chinpracha Museum), Thalang Road (China Inn) and Dibuk Road (Phuket Indy Market).

  • Monkey Hill Viewpoint

Monkey Hill, located in the old town of Phuket, Thailand, is a great place to meet wild monkeys during your visit. With its huge red and white antennae, this hill is famous for being the island’s most famous monkey playground. This free tourist attraction offers an incredible opportunity to interact with the monkeys and enjoy breathtaking views of Phuket. To make the most of your visit, it is advisable to visit early in the morning or late in the evening when the weather is cooler.

  • Phuket Weekend Night Market

The Sunday Walking Market in Phuket Town is one of the many lively night markets in Phuket worth visiting. With an incredible range of local food and snacks to explore, as well as fun but unnecessary items to take home, there is something for everyone. These markets are known to be intense, colourful, surprising, fascinating, confusing, messy, but they all offer a unique insight into the daily lives of Thai people, whether they are rich, poor or just like us.

  • Food

If you have a taste for western food and are looking for a delicious pizza or pasta, then we suggest you go to Da Moreno @ Town. Their pizza is undoubtedly the best you’ll find in Phuket, and perhaps even one of the best in Thailand. What makes the difference is their focus on quality, especially with their homemade cheese, wood-fired oven, airy and soft dough.

If you’re looking to soak up the authenticity of Thai cuisine in Phuket’s Old Town after a day of exploring, this is an experience you won’t want to miss. Fortunately, the town is full of restaurants of all categories, from elegant to affordable, and in beautiful heritage homes. If you’re looking for delicious seafood, Ko Ang Seafood is one of the most renowned local restaurants. Located on the east side of Phuket town, this establishment started small, with a zinc roof and no decoration at all. However, its reputation for quality cuisine has attracted many customers, leading to an evolution into a bright restaurant with Chinese decorative elements.
